Our History

Original Sign from the 1900’s

Originally established in 1902, Smothers was once named E.B. Dickerman Barbershop and Bath Room. During the 1930’s, the building went through many changes from a bootery to a tobacco and candy shop. In the 1940’s, Perry Long took over the business and turned it back into a barbershop to then be purchased by Harold Gleeson in 1950. After a decade of being under Harold Gleeson, the shop was purchased by Ed Smothers in 1962. The shop was then renamed to Smothers Barbers and was held under many different owners. In the Fall of 2018, Sam, took over the establishment and carries on the “Smothers Barbers” name.
